DCD Designs website Accessibility Statement
If you have any questions or comments about the accessibility of this site, feel free to e-mail us at accessibility@dcddesigns.com. Our goal is to create websites, this one included, that open the web to any user who wishes to view it, no matter what abilities or disabilities they may have.
We have audited our site against the the W3C-WAI
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0.
Besides mechanical testing we have made a visual check of this website and it's elements and in our opinion it is in accordance with these standards. Furthermore
we have completed a mechanical testing of our site via the Watchfire Bobby
accessibility testing program where our site was also given a
AAA rating. Due to the technical and code laden nature of our tutorials they were not tested in this process.
Access Keys
Most browsers support jumping to specific links by typing keys defined on the website. On Windows, you can press ALT + an access key; on Macintosh, you can press Control + an access key. The home page and all archives define the following access keys:
- Access key S - Skip navigation & go to main content
- Access key 1 - return to the site's home page
- Access key 4 - Search page
- Access key 0 - Accessibility statement
- Access key p - Our portfolio section's main page
- Access key e - Our services section's main page
- Access key a - Our About Us section's main page
- Access key 9 - Our Contact section's main page
- Access key r - Our tutorial, article and archive's main page
Links
- All links have title attributes which describe the link in greater detail, unless the text of the link already fully describes the target (such as the headline of an article).
- Wherever possible, links are written to make sense out of context. Many browsers (such as JAWS, Home Page Reader, Lynx, and Opera) can extract the list of links on a page and allow the user to browse the list, separately from the page.
- Link text is never duplicated; two links with the same link text always point to the same address.
- There are no "javascript:" pseudo-links that have any functionality on the site. Any javascript event handlers that do appear on this website offer visual effects only and do not in any way remove, add or change the readable text of the page. All links can be followed in any browser, even if scripting is turned off.
- There are no links that open new windows without warning.
Images
All content images used in the home page and all archives include descriptive ALT attributes. Purely decorative graphics include null ALT attributes.
Visual design
This site and all its archives use cascading style sheets for visual layout.
- Internet Explorer has a limited text resizing feature ("View" menu, "Text Size"), but it only works with relative font sizes. This website only uses style sheets that use relative font sizes.
- If your browser or browsing device does not support style sheets at all, the content of each page is still readable.
Acronyms and abbreviations
Due to its technical nature, this site makes use of many acronyms and abbreviations. We use the appropriate HTML acronym tag wherever possible to give an meaningful definition of these acronyms. Furthermore we use the HTML abbreviation tag wherever an abbreviation is used.
